In Dreams by Nora Roberts

In Dreams links a young woman to a stranger’s past – and to the curse that has trapped him forever in the eternity of his own dreams…

This novel is about Flynn and Kayleen. Flynn is cursed that he should live 100 years like a ghost (unable to feel anything) and then 1 week to be able to feel. It’s been 500 years and he still hasn’t learned his lesson. Then Kayleen, off on a whirlwind strictly guided down to the hour adventure, gets lost and ends up in his forest. He takes her in and thinks that he shall ‘claim’ her and keep her after he turns back into mist. He realizes that he loves her and puts her before himself and ends up setting himself free. I won’t give you more detail than that because then you won’t read the book. *wink*
I like the premise of the book and I like the way it was written. There is one thing about it that I don’t like. Kayleen is this massively logical, strict, and rational adult. She really takes it overboard. But then she believes Flynn’s story, believes he’s magical, and suddenly she’s carefree and head over heels. It seems a little too unbelievable for this characters background. But we assume that it is fine and that she’s able to cope in this way and the story is great.
I like that Nora Roberts takes a moment to assess the right and wrong of using magic to transport items to the castle. It makes you realize that just because you can do magic doesn’t mean you can use it unwisely.
In the end I’m giving this book 3 stars. It’s good but I just didn’t find it as ‘fun’ as I normally do.
