Believing is Seeing by Corinne Davies

Leaving a destructive relationship, Amy Bitonu returns to her hometown to help her ailing granny, unaware of how much her life is going to change. She had given up on having a family of her own, thinking there isn't a man alive who could deal with her emotional baggage. That is until two men show up in a dream claiming to be Hypnos and Thanatos, gods straight out of ancient Greek mythology. Her life takes a sharp turn into surreal when she meets them while awake. To top it off, they think that she is their long lost goddess.
Long ago, Thanatos and Hypnos were unable to stop the destruction of the goddess they had hoped would be the perfect complement to their powers. With her back, they could be more powerful than before, but she has no memory of them. Worse, she doesn't believe in them, which makes them all vulnerable. In order to be together, she has to believe the impossible, only then will she see the truth.

Amy is despairing over the fact that her granny just died, when in walks in an ‘orderly’ who helps her grieve. Little does Amy know that she was just held by Thanatos the god of death. According to an ancient story Thanatos and Hypnos, the god of sleep, were meant to have Pasithea, the goddess of relaxation, who Amy is reincarnated from. They are determined to get her this time. After freaking her out and Aphrodite (DeeDee) gives them a butt-chewing they deserve, they decide to take things slow. After getting to know her they realize that Amy is not Pasithea but they love her anyway, for who she is. Amy comes to terms that they really are gods, not just raving lunatics and decides that she loves them too.
This is an interesting book on the whole ménage situation. I would even go so far as to say this book is promoting Polyamorous relationships. That being said, I would like to applaud Corinne Davies at the way she was able to accomplish that. It’s subtle and unless you know what it is then you might miss the implications.
I love the reality of the characters. Amy is able to hold her own against Than and Nos and balances out the relationship between the two. Like a triangle. There is no right or wrong, there just is and they work perfectly together. I also like (dislike) the nasty neighbor. His character makes you want to take a shower because he’s so slimy. I like the way that the characters seem to lift off the page and I really think that if they were real you could meet them walking down the street.
The sex in this book is great. There are so many different tidbits of sex that it reminds me of soup. It’s great altogether but the pieces alone are just as delicious. I particularly like the scene with Than and Nos together in bed and Amy watching from the door way. It was different and great all at the same time.
Overall I would say that this book is definitely worth reading. It’s got a great plot and the way that the Greek gods are woven into the story is perfect. It makes me wish they really were real. In the end I am giving this book 4.5 stars.
