The Elixir by Dee S. Knight

Barb Morrison opens her eyes to find she's with two strange men and in great pain. They say the year is 2836, and since she doesn't remember anything before a few minutes ago, who is she to argue?
The men, Thomas and Roland, dull her pain with an elixir. As much to their surprise as hers, on her the liquid acts as an aphrodisiac. She needs a man--or two--in every which way, and the two guys present are happy to oblige. Is this how she will live out the rest of her life? Barb doesn't know what she wants: the future isn't all sweetness and light, and there's a man in the past she can't forget.

Barb Morrison finds herself far in the future. She knows she shouldn’t be there but can’t find a way to get back to her own time. Thomas and Roland help her try to adjust and help her in any way they can.
This story is very different. When reading it I was wondering how Barb came to be 800 years in the future. In the end it was a coma dream but in a way that makes it much better. She was fantasizing about the way her surroundings were influencing her but in the end she found someone that she truly loved.
This story was short. It’s a good read but has a science fiction flair that can be a turn off if you’re not expecting it. Since it doesn’t matter to me to be reading sci-fi, paranormal, or historical romance, this book turned out pretty good.
There is one thing that I have to point out as stirring my curiosity. The ‘elixir’ acted as an aphrodisiac. According to this story it was caused by a medicine that was supposed to be a pain killer. Is this medicine real or a work of the author’s imagination? I have only ever heard of this reaction in one other book and it was passed off as an allergic reaction. I am entertained by the idea but I question the reality of it because other than these two instances I have never heard of it. Still it’s a great plot device.
Overall I rate this book 3.5 stars.
