Surrendering
Completely Always Leads To…
Completely broke,
Regan Roslund is stuck selling bondage gear to a kinky clientele in order to
pay her bills. She has no interest in her salacious merchandise until she feels
a leather choker tight against her neck – and gets a glimpse of the muscular,
model-gorgeous man who holds her captive. Suddenly, temptation ignites…
The Most Intense
Pleasure…
Newly crowned king of
the undead, Shadow Sorenson knows he can protect himself by taking a wife. He
hopes Regan, with her new-found curiosity, will be unable to resist obeying
even his most deviant demand. But Shadow would prefer she surrender willingly.
For thirty nights, he’ll show Regan what it’s like to lose control as he
explored every inch of her naked flesh, leaving her hungry for release – and
moaning in anticipation of an ecstasy she never knew existed…
The plot of Dark Master is as follows: Regan finds out that
her financial manager up and left with all of her money. She’s more or less
destitute…except for a bondage gear shop that her aunt left to her. When she
gets there she tries on a necklace and it brings Shadow there. The necklace was
spelled by a sorcerer to locate the perfect match for the new King of Vampires.
Shadow tricks her into marrying him and then has a night of great sex. When
morning comes though Regan wants to go home. Shadow is more or less bewildered
by the idea that his wife doesn’t want to be with him. He sets out to woo her.
What follows is a tale of assassination attempts, bondage, vampirism, politics,
and a small amount of mystery.
I think my biggest problem with this book is that the back
cover is misleading. Sure it draws readers in but it doesn’t represent the
truth of what the story is. On second thought perhaps my problem isn’t with the
book so much as I have issues with the publishing company. Hmmm. I’ll have to
think about that.
The sex in this book is worth reading about. It has a great
view on what the domination world is all about. There is a sense of
self-discovery when Regan realizes that as a submissive she has power. On the
flip side she seems to be unable to let go of the control in her
out-of-the-bedroom life. I know that’s something I personally have a problem
with. Perhaps it’s reflective of what every woman does. In general the sex was
great. There doesn’t seem to be sex without the sub/dom world playing some sort
of role but the idea of being bound or having a man take control in the bedroom
is appealing. Especially with a hottie like Shadow.
The politics of the story is interesting to read. I liked
reading about vampires having a king and that they have rebellions and
assassination attempts. The intrigue surrounding the assassination attempts was
great. Tawny Taylor really seems to have a knack for it.
Did you see a however coming? I did…I must complain about
the flow of the book. It felt like the ‘beginning’ of the story was three
quarters of the book and then they had to rush the last to wrap it up. The
ending to the book and the discovery of who the bad guy was, was a great part
of the book but having two or three chapters to hurry it up when she should
have taken four to six chapters to do so was a little disappointing. Other than
that I don’t have many complaints about this book.
Overall I think this book is great if you like the sub/dom
world or like vampires. If both turn you off then skim through and read the sex
and see if that appeals to you. I finally decided that this book should be
rated 3.25 stars.
