Harvest Magic by Jennifer Dunne

A Midwest witch hires a specialist to design a corn maze in her fields for the harvest celebration, as a fundraiser for her niece’s school. She’s tied to the land and he’s just passing through, but long nights working side-by-side in the fields and getting sweaty in the barn have them both wishing they could find their way to a future together. Only time will tell if her harvest bounty might be more than corn this year.

Ally Nichols is roped into providing the field for a corn maze fundraiser for the school who’s facing financial hardship. She knows nothing about building a corn maze so a local who used to make them for a living is recruited to help her. During the harvesting of her corn she gets to know Matt Cantrell and her panties get wet just thinking about touching him. He discovers she is a witch and is upset that she lied to him. She finds a way to apologize and they get married.
Harvest Magic is a great short story that focuses on the interpersonal connection between the two characters. Ally is a witch but Matt gets mad at her because she lied to him about being what she was. She realizes her mistake and they get back together. This is a scenario in a lot of people’s lives and it’s easy to connect to. Everybody makes mistakes and it’s nice that Matt was able to realize that she was truly sorry.
The sex is toned down a little bit but it was still fun to read. Jennifer Dunne knows how to make the characters likable and relatable. It keeps everything real. Even the witch stuff was more like a real witches rather than what you would find in a fantasy novel.
Overall I think this is a good book to invest in. I rate this book 3.5 stars.
